MOMIT Project is related to the Shift2Rail Innovation Programmme 3 (S2R-IP3): "Cost efficient and Reliable High capacity infrastructures”.

With respect the Specific Challenge "To enable the development of autonomous and unmanned vehicles for railway network monitoring, by processing data captured by those devices in order to generate relevant maintenance infrastructure-related information.", MOMIT will use both Satellite data and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to develop new solutions for the railway infrastructure monitoring.

Moreover, with respect to the Specific Challenge "Relying on the technology development and demonstrator implementation in the field, to assess operational interests and feasibility in terms of which elements/parameters can be measured.", in the MOMIT Project six demonstrators will be realized in order to test the developed solutions directly on field, taking advantage for the internal user, the Italian railways infrastructure manager RFI.
